Announcement Of 2024 Plans: Joe Biden

Joe Biden on a trip to Northern Ireland and Ireland. 

It is sort of part business and pleasure because, of course, Biden himself is Irish. He talks about it all the time. 'As the proud son of Catherine Eugenia Finnegan Biden, well, you knew I'd be coming.'

And so, a big part of the trip aims to build ties between Ireland and the US, which has a substantial Irish-American population. But the journey began in Northern IreNorthern Ireland, and; things were a bit thornier there. 

For one, the parliament is in a standoff, and Biden urged them to find a solution. But there's not a lot of sign that's going to happen. He also sort of walked a tightrope because some people in the UK worry that he's almost too Irish. And in other words, might not pay attention enough to the so-called "special relationship" between the US and the UK. But things flowed much more smoothly once he arrived in the Republic of Ireland. He was greeted by enormous crowds, often more significant than he gets in America.

He met with Irish political leaders. He's at a genealogy center tracing his family roots. In the background, this is a looming question: When will Joe Biden decide or make an announcement on a reelection bid? 

And while he hasn't made one here, all signs indicate that Joe Biden will seek a second term.
